Avon Congregational Church is looking for a Director of Music Ministries
Our historic landmark church is undergoing an exciting transition. Our
director of music ministries will help us live out our church vision through
our newly defined ministry areas.
S/he will be creative, energetic, and team oriented; willing to work with our
Minister to incorporate music into our multi-faceted mission. The candidate
must be proficient in piano and organ and have excellent people skills.
This is a flexible position that includes selecting the appropriate music;
playing at one service on Sunday morning, all regularly scheduled services,
rehearsing and directing our adult choir, and occasionally funerals and
weddings (for additional compensation).
We have a folk music group, a children’s choir, and adult bell choir that
report to and schedule through the Director of Music Ministries.
Our musical style is a mixture of sacred, classical, and contemporary. Our
traditional hymnal is the United Methodist Hymnal and we have a hymnal
supplement, The Faith We Sing. We have an Austin organ and Schumann piano in
the sanctuary.  There is a Baldwin baby grand piano in the Fellowship Hall.
This job is a 12-15 hour per week position that pays $12,000-$15,000 per year
depending on experience.
