South Congregational Church of East Hartford, United Church of Christ, a
friendly and affirming church, seeks a part-time (between 15-20 hours per
week) Organist/Choir Director. We value our music programs as part of our
worship experience and seek someone to help us continue to grow our talents
and faith.

The Organist/Choir Director, as a member of the professional staff, needs to
work well with our Senior Pastor, staff and volunteers. Our choir is
competent and versatile. We have no paid soloists. We have both a piano and a
2 manual Austin Organ with electronic contacts.

We seek an individual who will nurture and support the diverse musical
talents and interests of our congregation. The position will have direct
responsibility for our senior choir. We have a volunteer hand chimes group
for which leadership would be desirable, but not required.

We seek a person with a BA or equivalent education. Musical experience in a
church setting is desired. The successful candidate will have the primary
responsibility for directing our volunteer senior choir. He or she will have
excellent “people” skills.

Compensation will be based on the education and experience of the candidate.
Vacation benefits are negotiable as a component of compensation.
