Job Description:
First Church of Christ in Longmeadow, MA, a vibrant UCC church with a strong
commitment to its music ministry, is seeking applications for the part-time
position of Director of Music. The Director of Music works with pastors and
lay leaders to lead the members and friends of First Church of Christ in the
expression of prayer and worship through music. Our diverse congregation
enjoys a wide range of musical genres. The church employs four vocal
soloists/section leaders. There is a group of singers and instrumentalists
who participate in the music program on a volunteer basis and funds are
available to hire extra musicians for special services. The church
meticulously maintains its 1975 Schantz 3-manual pipe organ with 38 ranks, a
Steinway six-foot grand piano, a French double harpsichord, hand bells, and
hand chimes. The music library is extensive, befitting a congregation that is
celebrating its 300th anniversary. There is an annual allocation for the
purchase of new music, and we hold a license from CCLI for contemporary
Christian music. There is one weekly Sunday morning service; the Chancel
Choir and Hand Bell Choir currently rehearse on Thursday evenings. See the
