Music Director (West Hartford, CT)

St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in West Hartford seeks a full-time Music Director. Primary responsibility is to provide music and coordinate the cantor schedule for one Saturday and one Sunday Mass as well as extra liturgies during Christmas and Holy Week. This includes hymn selection, leading congregational singing with the organ, and creating and printing worship aids. Music Director will also maintain the choral library and direct the choir, which sings at Sunday Mass and presents two concerts yearly during Advent and Holy Week. The choir of 22 voices (SATB) includes five paid section leaders. Music Director will also be available for weddings and funerals (compensated separately), and to assist the Director of Religious Education with any programs involving music.

Instruments include a 1931 rebuilt Austin organ in good shape and a new Yamaha hybrid piano NU1. The church seats 700, with a good, clear acoustic. It is a member of the 3-church pastorate of St. Gianna Beretta Molla, along with St. Brigid and St. Helena parishes. Current Music Director position ends on December 31, and we would like to hire the new Music Director 4-6 weeks before that. Applications should be sent to Fr.
