Job Title: Organist/Choir Director
Hours: 10-12 per week
Start Date: Late May 2017 at the earliest
Salary and Vacation: TBD
Instruments: Organ- 1879 E.E.G. Hook and Hastings Tracker Organ 12 ranks, 56
note manuals, 27 note flat pedal board; Yamaha weighted key electric piano
(full keyboard); console piano in parish hall.
Overview
The organist will work in collaboration with the Rector of St.
Peter’s-Trinity to plan/program blended (traditional and contemporary, but
weighted toward traditional) worship music for Sundays and periodic special
events/non-Sunday worship services. Generally, between music planning, organ
practice, Sunday services, special worship/occasions, and choir rehearsals,
10-12 hours weekly is assumed. The organist/choir director reports directly
to the Rector.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
•       Play organ for Wednesday evening rehearsal and Sunday worship
during the program year, approximately concurrent with the public school
year.
•       Prepare choir and soloists to perform music beyond congregational
song.
•       Meet with the Rector regularly to discuss upcoming worship and
music, at least monthly, sometimes more often.
•       Suggest and/or help plan occasional special musical events.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
•       Co-ordinate organ tuning, maintenance, and repair, and generally
look
after the condition of the instrument
•       Email and correspondence, as needed
•       Preparation of occasional worship/special musical events.
•       Work closely with other members of staff
•       Other administration and duties as required
•       Play for non-Sunday worship, concerts and occasional extra
rehearsals as needed.
