ABOUT THE CHURCH
Haddonfield United Methodist Church is an energetic regional church located
in a vibrant suburban community approximately 10 miles east of Philadelphia.
The culturally and economically diverse congregation is made up of 1,200
members. Weekly attendance averages 450 across four unique worship services.
Our vision is to embody the love of Christ through grace-filled community,
inspired worship and transformational mission.
Our Ministry of Music is central to the church’s identity. We offer
traditional and contemporary worship services in which our core values are
expressed through music. Our Sacred Music program consists of a 60-voice
chancel choir, an adult bell choir, and two children’s choirs. We founded,
support, and host the 110-voice New Jersey MasterChorale as part of our
community outreach. Our commitment to excellence in music ministry is
reflected in our state-of-the-art facilities and instruments, which include
an Austin four-manual pipe organ and Grotrian piano in our sanctuary, a
spacious choir room, an extensive music library, and audio/video recording
capabilities that enable us to expand our reach into digital and social
media.

ROLE SUMMARY
The organist/pianist is responsible for assisting and collaborating with the
Director of Sacred Music in the growth of our music program by providing
organ and piano accompaniments for congregational singing and
choirs/ensembles in our traditional worship services and special concert
series. This position will also serve as the primary accompanist for the New
Jersey MasterChorale, a community outreach choral organization of HUMC, which
features members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Friends in its concerts.

PURPOSE OF POSITION
The organist/pianist will support the Director of Sacred Music in empowering
the congregation to embody the love of Christ through inspired music and
worship. An ideal candidate will be a flexible, dynamic, and highly skilled
instrumentalist who is open to a variety of musical styles in worship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
   •      Serve as Primary Organist for 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
traditional Sunday worship services
   •      Serve as accompanist for the Chancel Choir for Sunday
worship and weekly rehearsals
   •      Serve as accompanist for the NJ MasterChorale, including
weekly rehearsals,
special events, church celebrations, and seasonal concerts
   •      Serve as accompanist for vocal/instrumental soloists and
ensembles
   •      Play for weddings/funerals (additionally compensated)

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS
   •      Bachelor’s degree in music
   •      Minimum of 3 years experience playing in a church setting
   •      Minimum of 1 year experience accompanying major choral
works
