Alto section leader/soloist (New Canaan, CT)

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of New Canaan is searching for an alto section leader for a choir of gifted and dedicated volunteers.  Weekday rehearsals are held on Thursdays, 7:30-9:30pm; and the Sunday call is 9am for the 10am service: $100 per call (either rehearsal or Sunday service).  Other services throughout the year with additional, and higher, compensation.  Our repertoire ranges from Hildegard von Bingen to the occasional gospel work, with a concentration on the established Episcopal-Anglican repertoire.  We seek a singer with a flexible voice technique - someone who can blend with the section, but who could then step out and be heard as a soloist.  The ability to sing straight-tone would be a plus, as the repertoire might require.  Teaching privileges are included. This position is available as of December 1. Our current alto section leader is Rachel Parkes, wife of Dr. Henry Parkes, ISM.
