Assistant Organist (Darien, CT)
Saint Luke's Parish (Episcopal) in Darien, CT, is currently seeking a part-time Associate Organist to serve under the direction of our Organist and Director of Music.
Saint Luke’s is one of New England’s largest and most active Episcopal churches. We are located in Fairfield County, 2 minutes off I-95 by car, and less than 5 minutes from two train stations on the Metro-North New Haven Line, (approx. an hour train from Grand Central or 45 minutes from New Haven’s Union Station).
The duties of the Associate Organist include, but are not limited to:
~ Playing the 8 AM Sunday service when assigned (usually every other week).
~ Assisting at the organ with voluntaries, service music, and hymns during the 10 AM Sunday service.
~ Accompanying or conducting choirs, as assigned, for all choral services and rehearsals. This includes the Saint Luke’s Parish Choir and the Chorister Program made up of three choirs. Rehearsals are scheduled on Thursdays, 4 PM – 9:30 PM, and Sundays at 9 AM.
~ Assisting with the RSCMA Voice for Life program.
~ Playing and/or conducting at one monthly Evensong service between September and June; and for other special services like Ash Wednesday, Holy Week and Easter, Advent Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve/Day, and other services as assigned.
~ Meeting with the Director of Music on a weekly basis.
~ Playing for Funerals or Weddings, as assigned, at additional compensation.
~ Preparing, along with a volunteer Music Librarian, choir members’ music folders on a weekly basis.
~ Assisting with set-up and take-down for special musical events, services, and receptions.
