Job Description: 

Looking for a cantor/soloist at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Farmington, CT.  Position includes two weekly Sunday Masses: 9:30am and 11:30am ($100/each) as well as opportunities to cantor for Holy Days, Funerals, Weddings, etc.  Looking for ability to switch between classical repertoire, Catholic ‘standard fare’, as well as contemporary Christian or ‘Praise and Worship’ style.  Must be a great sight reader. In addition, someone who can sing as a soloist and also sing in an amateur choir with 2-3 paid section leaders. St. Patrick Church is a vibrant Catholic parish in the heart of historic Farmington.

“Being a cantor involves much more than standing up and singing alone.  It involves making the assembly's prayer possible through song. The cantor has the responsibility for any songs or hymns that require solo passages, leading the assembly in a recurring refrain to be sung and inviting the assembly to join voices in hymns used throughout the Mass.”
