Job Description:

Scarborough Presbyterian Church Substitute Organists Needed Due to the June retirement of our current Music Director after 16 years, we seek organists interested in playing for our summer services while the choir is on hiatus until after Labor Day. Our 1895 Odell pipe organ will be undergoing repairs for water damage from last fall’s storms and our chapel Allen organ has been relocated to the sanctuary chancel for the duration. In September when the choir returns we will consider candidates for a new choir director/organist, a permanent salaried position; our hope is that summer substitutes may ask to be considered for that position. Sunday services, usually an hour, are held year-round at 10:30 am. An organ prelude, three hymns, accompaniment to the Gloria Patri and Doxology, perhaps an anthem, an Offertory, and a postlude are central to worship at SPC. You will select and play appropriate musical pieces and hymns in collaboration with the Minister and other staff. Services are followed by a coffee hour and refreshments. We are offering $250 per Sunday. Scarborough Church is a short (if steep) walk uphill from the Scarborough Train Station on the Metro North Hudson Line if you wish to use public transportation. And by car it is about ten minutes’ drive north of Tarrytown and the Tappan Zee/Cuomo Bridge, or ten minutes west of the Taconic State Parkway, on Route 9 and Scarborough Road. We are a warm place of diverse beliefs and unique people united by the love of Christ and service to God and God’s world. Everyone is welcome! Visit www.scarboroughchurch.net and see our services on Facebook and YouTube. Please submit a cover letter (with links to performances if possible) and resume to mizzocroft@aol.com. Our Office Administrator, Natalie Carr-Harris, office@scarboroughchurch.com, 914-941-1142, will contact you about scheduling details.
