Clark University’s Visual and Performing Arts Department seeks to fill the position of Director of Choral Activities and Music Performance. Reporting to the Music Program Director, the successful candidate will direct Clark University's Chorus and Concert Choir as well as oversee the Music Program's Applied Lessons curriculum (MUSC 180 and MUSC 018) and support the music curriculum by teaching one class a year in topics related to music performance. In addition, this position will oversee, coordinate, and cultivate music performance activities by functioning as a liaison between the Music Program and Clark's Student Activities. 

The fundamental curricular goal of this position is to direct our choral activities while enhancing the opportunities for our diverse student body to integrate music practice with the historical, theoretical and aesthetic study the program already offers, improving intersections of study and practice within the Program. 

Qualifications: 

The preferred candidate will have:

  • A doctorate in music (ABD considered) or an equivalent level of experience and accomplishment in the field.
  • Significant choral conducting experience.
  • A commitment to excellence in music education in a liberal-arts context.
  • The ability to maintain high professional standards and a demonstrated commitment to working inclusively in a diverse academic context.
  • Prior experience working with and contributing to a diverse workplace with the ability to interact effectively with a broad range of constituents on campus.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, 10 month position with excellent benefits, which include employee and family tuition benefits, vacation, generous retirement plan, free use of campus fitness center and many more.
