Job Description: 

PURPOSE  The Director of Music leads the church in ministry through music.  The Director adds spiritual value to the services by performing as the church organist/pianist, choir director and music advisor.  The Director will work 43 Sundays per year.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Collaborates with the Minister and Music Committee on the role and use of music in worship services and in the life of the church as a whole
  2. In collaboration with the minister, provides organ, piano, choir and other music (appropriate to the church season) within the order of the service to enhance the worship experience
  3. Develops through rehearsal and training, an adult choir to sing at Sunday services as well as other special services sponsored by the church
  4. Reviews and purchases new choir music within the approved budget
  5. Works with the Music Committee to bring in artists from the community and wider area for special music
  6. Plays for funerals, memorial services and weddings as available
  7. Initiates and develops youth and/or children’s choirs and/or other programs to enhance the ministry and outreach of the church
  8. Meets with the Minister regularly
