Director of Music (PT) (Watertown, MA)

The Watertown Catholic Collaborative is looking for a part-time Music Director who sees themselves as a motivated disciple of Jesus Christ who has a love and appreciation for Sacred Music and Sacred Catholic Liturgy. The ideal candidate must know and appreciate various types of liturgical music including traditional Gregorian chant, plainsong, and Contemporary Catholic music that is faithful to Catholic thought and understanding. The ideal candidate must also be willing to promote congregational singing, work with and enhance an already established and accomplished adult choir, and have a willingness to work with and expand a small children’s choir.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Regular Weekend Liturgies:
Saturday 4:00pm Mass at Saint Patrick Church
Sunday 7:30am Mass at Sacred Heart Church    
Sunday 10:00am Mass at Saint Patrick Church  
Sunday 12:00pm Noon Mass at Sacred Heart Church  

Adult Choir Rehearsals (weekly):  Mid-September through Mid-June
Youth Choir Rehearsals (monthly):  October through April
Direct Adult Choir to sing 3x per month (Typically at the 10:00am Mass)
Direct Youth Choir to sing 1x per month (Typically at the 10:00am Mass)

ADDITIONAL LITURGIES/RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
Holy Days of Obligation
Ash Wednesday Masses
Christmas Eve and Day Masses 
Easter Triduum and Easter Sunday Masses and Liturgies                                                                                                
3 Sunday 5:00pm Masses per year                                                                                                              
1 yearly Thursday Evening Confirmation Mass
Provide music for funeral and wedding liturgies as they come in. Contact families to discuss music options
Nursing Home Christmas Carols with Grades 6,7,8 once a year
1 Christmas Concert every other year
Non-Liturgical setting Sacred Music Showcase Concert every other year
Visitation to the Faith Formation students periodically to recruit new Children’s choir members

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 5 years prior experience in Music Ministry
Demonstrative proficiency on organ/piano. AAGO or equivalent standard in organ performance

Ability to sing a plus
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Manage copyright, licensing, and reporting
Supervise the maintenance of Organs/Pianos/Microphones
Demonstrative proficiency in sight reading
Experience working with and directing Choirs
Experience arranging music and composition for instruments a plus
A good sense of humor and a prayerful spirit
