GENERAL DESCRIPTION
 
Under the supervision of the Rector along with Music Ministry Leader, the Children’s Music Ministry Leader will coordinate, instruct and lead music ministry for our children in Pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Essential functions and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
Worship Service (2 hours/week):    Working in collaboration with the Rector and Music Ministry leader, the Children’s MML is responsible for directing and presenting musical offerings by our children for the 10:00 a.m. Sunday worship services and other occasional special services.  

Seasonal Planning (0.5 hours/week):    The Children’s Music Ministry leader works collaboratively with the Rector and the Music Ministry Leader in leading and developing a dynamic and inviting children’s program for holidays and special services.  Works with other staff to achieve intergenerational music opportunities for young children. 

Fostering committed team of volunteers (0.5 hours/week):    The Children’s Music Ministry Leader develops and fosters engagement, volunteerism, support and recruitment for the success of St. Paul’s children’s music program development by identifying, encouraging, and utilizing children volunteer musical talent within the parish.  

Choral rehearsals (1 hour/week):    Spiritual leader to the youngest choir members, creating an environment where musical training & preparation becomes a part of maintaining and further building a solid foundation of faith for participants. The Children’s Music Ministry Leader will plan and direct regularly scheduled choir rehearsals.  The Children’s Choir may rehearse on Sundays during coffee hour from (approximately) the first week in September to mid-June.  

Other Responsibilities (0.5 hours/week):   Attend staff meetings, when requested, and uphold the staff and church in prayer and encouragement.    Direct children’s outreach events into the community via performances at other organizations as appropriate.   Submit to the church office in a timely manner information about the children’s music for the coming Sunday.  Participate in the life and ministry of the Parish.  Work with Children’s Ministry Director to develop and foster excellent relations and involvement by parents of children participating in the Children’s Music Ministry.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience: A bachelor’s degree in music or music education or related discipline with 3 – 5 years’ experience working with young children as a choir and or music leader in a church environment preferred. Experience with musical instruments a plus. Strong communication (both verbal and written) skills and ability to work and interact well with children, youth, staff, parents, parishioners, and volunteers, organizational, and time management skills are essential.  Self-starter with a strong commitment to excellence.
