Job Description:
The Congregational Church in South Glastonbury, Connecticut, seeks a dynamic Music Director to lead and expand the Church’s music ministries. South Church is a community of faith, strongly committed to ministries of justice and peace. We were one of the first open and affirming churches in the state of Connecticut. We seek a Music Director who shares these values and can lead us in the fulfillment of our music vision which includes:

embracing sacred music of different styles, eras and cultures

advocating for and leading the participation of all ages in our music programming

working closely with clergy to plan music components of Sunday worship

directing a strong 30-person adult choir and developing additional musical groups

overseeing youth music programming.
The church sanctuary has a recently rebuilt Austin organ and a Mason and Hamlin grand piano. We seek a Music Director who is a skilled choral director – a creative and enthusiastic music professional who can expand upon the strong music traditions already in place. This is a 20 hour per week position with a salary range of $25,000 to $30,000 depending on experience. We would consider a combined Choral Director/Organist individual. Additional compensation would be appropriate for a combined Choral Director/Organist.
