Job Description: 

Holy Name of Mary Parish is seeking a passionate, caring, and organized individual to fill a parttime
position as Music Director. HNM is a small community parish in Croton-on-Hudson, NY,
with approximately 1500 registered families.

Roles and Responsibilities
Selecting music consistent with the liturgical year and sensitive to Roman Catholic and parish tradition
Providing accompaniment for four weekend Masses (Sa 5:00 p.m., Su 8:00, 9:15, and 10:45 a.m.
Recruiting, developing, and rehearsing our volunteer adult choir
Rehearse generally one weeknight/week
Planning and performing all music for Holy Days of Obligation, Christmas, the Triduum, and other special liturgies and celebrations, (e.g., First Communion and Confirmation)
Organizing the Mass schedule for volunteer cantors
Providing music for approximately 60 extra services a year (funerals and weddings, see below)
Administering music program through well-timed communication to pastor, staff, and volunteers as necessary, upholding of copyright privileges, and supervision and maintenance of instruments

Qualifications
Knowledge of the Roman Catholic liturgy and traditions
Excellent piano and organ skills
Ability to sight-read music and improvise at an intermediate level
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Understanding of vocal technique
Positive attitude toward the training of a volunteer choir
Desire and ability to continue a 4x/year concert series, which brings in guest performers to enhance our community and raise money for the music budget
Relevant experience
Local resident a plus

Salary
$32K-$35K, commensurate with experience, including 2 weeks of paid vacation. (Must provide
qualified substitutes for absences). Wedding and funeral stipends average an additional $10K per
year.
