JOB POSTING:  Musician, Grace Lutheran Church, Plainville, Connecticut

The Musician is a key member of our ministry team having responsibility for leading the musical expression of worship and developing the congregation’s active, spiritual participation. Our Musician will play the keyboard, at our weekly worship celebrations as well at all Holy Week services, seasonal celebrations of Evening Prayer, funerals and weddings. The Musician will work closely with the Pastor in preparing and playing a wide range of music within the context of worship.

Qualified candidates must possess extensive knowledge of the keyboard, as well as interest in/ability to play liturgical music that coincides with the church calendar, as well as choral directions.  A willingness to learn music from the vast repertoire of ecumenical musical selections, as represented in the worship books of the ELCA, is important. In addition, the ability to prepare musical selections from other resources is required.

This position requires positive interpersonal relations with adults and children, availability on Sundays, as well as throughout the week on an as-needed basis, and requires planning and choir rehearsals.  Working knowledge of a music budget, copyright fees, and other financial requirements related to the position will be helpful.

An educational background in music is required. A degree in music is ideal, though one’s experience will receive serious consideration. As part of the interview process, the candidate will be asked to play a few selections from a variety of church musical sources.

Qualified candidates are asked to submit a cover letter and resume via email to: Rev. Dr. Robert R. LaRochelle, Pastor, at rpbksl@cox.net
