Job Description:

The Church is a thriving Episcopal parish of diverse membership and distinguished history located in the City of St Louis - in the suburb of Clayton and adjacent to Washington University, with a rich worship life in the Anglo-Catholic tradition.

The church's music program is anchored by a choir of professional singers with additional volunteers of equal ability. The choir sings for the principal service on Sunday mornings, for additional Christmas, Holy Week and Easter services, and frequently at wedding and funeral services. The development of additional choral groups, especially for children, as well as other musical offerings is encouraged. Throughout the parish's history, the music program has been led by distinguished and highly skilled musicians - excellent choral directors, skilled keyboard players and recitalists and accomplished composers.

The candidate should hold a Master's degree or its equivalent and should have a minimum of 5-7 years of full-time work experience, preferably working in the Episcopal Church. Familiarity with the Anglican liturgy and musical tradition is essential. Strong experience in choral conducting and development, along with exemplary skills as an organist are essential for the maintenance and increased development of this program. The ability to work collegially with the choir, parishioners, the clergy and staff of the parish and musical community is key to the success of this position, along with a vision for a multi-faceted music program.

The church has a Petty-Madden (1981) 4 manual 72 rank organ, which will be replaced, and a Quimby (1989) 9 rank organ, along with Steinway pianos.
