Organist or Pianist (Winsted, CT)

The First Church of Winsted (FCOW), CT, a UCC and ABC affiliated congregation, is seeking a part-time organist/pianist to start as soon as available. FCOW is also seeking a Choir Director. Candidates may apply for one or both positions (our prior organist also filled the role of Choir Director).

FCOW has a strong music tradition with a committed 5-member adult choir and a congregation that loves music. A small youth choir is led by a member of the congregation.

The organist/pianist will provide organ and/or piano music for a weekly 10AM Sunday service and for holiday worship services; piano and/or organ accompaniment, as required, for weekly adult choir evening rehearsals (one evening a week) and for Sunday morning warm-ups. Additional services such as weddings and funerals may be performed for additional compensation. The organist/pianist will work collaboratively with the Choir Director, Pastor, and Music Committee Chair as necessary to assist in the running of the music program.

A successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in playing the organ/piano. A Bachelor’s degree in music, sacred music, CAGO certification or its equivalent, and 3 years’ experience in church music or related experience is preferred, but not required. This is a year-round position.

Salary is as follows: the organist position, $125 weekly; the pianist position, $75 weekly; and the Choir Director position, $50 weekly. If the organist and Choir Director positions are combined the salary will be $175 weekly; combined pianist Choir Director positions, $125 weekly.
