Organist/Pianist (Vernon, CT)

Talcottville Congregational Church (TCC), an Evangelical Free Church in Vernon, CT, is looking for a musical accompanist who is proficient in organ and piano.

TCC has a rich history (it was founded in 1866); we have a beautiful building and a 1913 Steere organ. But our deepest identity is found in the unchanging Gospel of Jesus Christ. We seek to be deeply rooted in the Scriptures, drawing upon our heritage and engaging new generations.

At minimum, we are looking for a proficient organist/pianist to accompany congregational singing on Sundays on a regular basis during our 10:30am worship service. We sing primarily traditional hymns, while also including some newer songs. Occasionally we gather a choir for special services, but congregational singing is primary. There would be occasional opportunities to play for special services (e.g. Christmas Eve, Holy Week, weddings, funerals, etc.). We can offer some flexibility in scheduling (there a few substitute accompanists who live locally and who can fill in occasionally).

Ideally, we would love to find a candidate who embraces the church’s mission, who desires to participate in the church community, and who will seek to advance the church’s mission and build up the church community through music in a variety of ways over time.
