The Church

The Church of St. Paul the Apostle in NYC is seeking a part-time Organist/Assistant Music Director to join our growing Music Ministry staff. St. Paul’s NYC was established in 1858 by Father Isaac Hecker, the founder of the Paulist Fathers.  Today, we continue to welcome everyone to make St. Paul’s their spiritual home: from families, to seniors, to young adults, and the LGBTQ community, searching to blend their lives to a greater connection with God through prayer, service, and community.

The Ministry

St. Paul’s is home to a dynamic and eclectic Music Ministry led by Joey Chancey, that includes four different musical liturgies: the St. Paul Choir, Coro Hispano, the Inspirit Ensemble, and the Jazz Mass. We are also proud to be a Steinway and Steinway designed brand artistic partner. For our Easter and Christmas Masses, we combine our choirs, who are accompanied by Broadway and classical musicians.

Our Organ

The organ at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle was installed in 1965 by M.P. Möller Pipe Organ.  The bulk of the instrument is located behind the high altar, and a nave division is perched above the pews on the south side of the church. Peragallo Pipe Organ Company of Paterson, New Jersey rebuilt the instrument in 1999, adding a new 4-manual moveable console. Recently, the Church of St. Paul the Apostle has acquired a grand, historic organ built in 1892 by Roosevelt Organ Works of New York City. A project is now underway to restore and install the Roosevelt organ, in order to better serve the needs of our church and our neighboring institutions.
