Staff Singer Position: Principal Cantor and Soprano (Trumbull, Connecticut)
The Parish of Saint Catherine of Siena in Trumbull, CT is seeking a principal cantor for parish weekend Masses and soprano for a 4-voice professional ensemble.
As principal cantor for the parish, the ideal candidate would sing for 2-3 weekend Masses (Sat. 4pm, Sunday 9am, 11am choral Solemn Mass), in addition to the 7pm Mass on holy days of obligation, Masses of Christmas, Holy Week, Easter, Confirmations and First Communions, Weddings (ca. 5-10 per year), Funerals (ca. 40-50 per year), and other special Masses as assigned by the Director of Music.
The ensemble soprano portion of the position includes the following: 1 monthly Wednesday evening rehearsal (7:00-9:00pm), Sunday 11:00 a.m. Mass (10:00am rehearsal) and all other special Masses as announced. Availability for Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, all of Holy Week and Easter Sunday is required.
Desired qualifications:
- String lyric soprano voice with a pleasant, bendable tone
- Strong sight singing ability
- Choral experience, preferably in small ensembles
- Experience as a cantor in a Roman Catholic parish and familiarity with Catholic Liturgy
Stipends are commensurate with experience and availability, and approximate range is available upon request. All parish employees must be in compliance with the Diocese of Bridgeport Safe Environments policy. This includes a background check and certification in the Virus training program.
