Organization Name:
Irvington Presbyterian Church
Salary Range:
$160 per call
Job Description:

Irvington Presbyterian Church in Irvington-on-Hudson (lower Westchester County, NY) seeks a tenor section leader for our Chancel Choir.  Candidates should have excellent choral musicianship - including the ability to sing both as a soloist and within their section, and excellent sight-singing - and an appreciation of music as an act of worship.  Full vaccination against COVID and the following of safety protocols set by church officers based on CDC recommendations is also a must, and the person hired will need to show official proof of vaccination.  Ability to record for a virtual choral offering if necessitated by health and safety measures is strongly desired.

Church is accessible via the Metro North Hudson Line.  The church choir year ordinarily spans from the Sunday after Labor Day until Father’s Day, with 2-3 Sundays off within those 39-40 weeks.  One call per week on Sunday morning, with a 9:30-10:00 AM pre-service warm-up, 10:30 service, and rehearsal following the service (likely 12:00-1:00 - after-church rehearsal in place of a weeknight rehearsal is new to IPC, so the exact time may be tweaked this year).  Additional calls include Lessons and Carols, two Christmas Eve services, and Maundy Thursday.  Pay is $160 per call.  Please send a resume and audio samples to jon.riss@irvingtonpresbychurch.org.  All emails received will be acknowledged, with selected candidates receiving invitations to audition in person.
