Worship Music Leader

 

Position Description

 

POSITION: Worship Music Leader (Part time: ten hours per week, with possibility of 15 hours per week as needs emerge)

 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Worship Music Leader will collaborate with the pastors in creating inspirational and uplifting services of worship during the fall and early winter of 2020, until an Interim Director of Music is hired.  The Worship Music Leader will play the organ or piano for worship on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Worship & Music

 

  1. Work collaboratively with the pastors and others in planning and coordinating

 worship services. Understand, value and incorporate a wide range of musical expression - choral, solo, and instrumental, utilizing a variety of styles and genres, as well as incorporating members of the congregation as singers and instrumentalist as appropriate.

 

  1. Select and practice service music suitable to themes of worship; consult with the pastors in the selection of hymns.

3.Play for the Sunday worship services, historically at 8:15 am and 10:15 am.  (At present online at 10:15 only due to the Coronavirus.) 4.Provide musical leadership and accompaniment for Vesper service on online Wednesdays. 5.Provide musical leadership and play for special worship services such as Christmas Eve, Holy Week, etc. as scheduled, either in person or on line. 6.Identify the vocal and instrumental talents of the members of the church and

      recruit and engage them to increase the variety of musical offerings in  

     worship on-line and, when possible, in person.

 

 

 

 ACCOUNTABILITY: to the Senior Pastor, with the support of the Personnel Board and the Board of Music.
