Job Title: Minister of Music
Organization Name: St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Cheshire
Organization Website: St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Cheshire
Salary Range (optional): $35-39,000 per year or $22-26,000 plus benefits.
Job Description:
John Rutter once said, “Choral music is not one of life’s frills, it is
something that goes to the heart of our humanity, our sense of community and
our souls.” We are looking for a director of music with experience in
conducting choirs of all ages. We need a person who is passionate about
inspiring a love of choral singing in children and adults and enjoys building
programs. We have a committed volunteer adult parish choir and an active
chorister program for children age 9-18 yrs. of age. We would like to begin a
training program for even younger children, fostering a love of singing with
others and preparing them to join the choristers when they reach age 9.
We strive for excellence within a caring community that encourages everyone
to offer whatever musical gifts they can. We value traditional church music
as well as music from other traditions and we hope to engage an organist to
support the work of the Minister of Music. Our successful candidates will be
persons of faith who understand the importance of music as the soul of a
worshipping community, who love music of all kinds and who are willing to
work with both children and adults of varying abilities.
The Minister of Music must enjoy working collaboratively with other clergy
and staff and be flexible enough to allow the music program to change and
grow according to the needs of the parish and surrounding community. The
hours are flexible and can fit in with a teaching career.
