Minister of Music
Saint Ann’s, the Episcopal congregation in Old Lyme, CT, seeks a part-time
Minister of Music to further enhance and develop our strong music ministry.
The Minister of Music serves as organist/choirmaster and works with the
Rector to ensure that the quality, substance and appropriateness of the music
maintains our strong Anglican and classical music tradition, while
recognizing the opportunity to introduce less traditional musical offerings
in certain services or settings.  The candidate for this position should have
proven experience in choral directing and organ performance, and preferably
experience in the Anglican tradition.

Saint Ann’s organ was built and installed in 1973 by the Gress-Miles Organ
Company and completely renovated in 1993 by Foley-Baker, Inc. We use the 1982
Episcopal Hymn book, WLP, LEVAS, and Sing of the World Made New (one of the
editors of this hymnal, the Rt. Rev Jeffery Rowthorn, is a member of the
parish).

Professional Qualifications:
•       Master’s degree or doctorate in music is preferred;
•       Experienced in choral directing and organ performance in a liturgical
setting;
•       Experience and enjoyment in working with youth/children’s choirs and
community organizations, such as schools, to develop collaborative music
programs (RSCM).

Duties:
Provide organ, choral, or other music at all principle services of the
church, including but not limited to:
•       Sunday worship services–8:30 am service with communion music, closing
hymn, and postlude;
•       10:30 am full service with choir;
•       Services of Christmas and Epiphany, plus other feast days and special
services: Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter
Vigil and Easter Day;
•       Expected additional services outside of the above include: Advent Lessons
& Carols and three Choral Evensongs;
•       Recruit local volunteer singers, via various community networks, in
consultation with the Rector;
•       Weddings and funerals, as well as other major events, such as ordinations
or other celebrations; additional compensation probable;
•       Recruit for hire four choir section leaders to support volunteer choir
members; budget available.

Compensation: A competitive salary and other benefits will be offered in
accordance with AAM (Association of Anglican Musicians) guidelines.  This is
a very important musical leadership position to our congregation and can be a
