Yale Schola Cantorum to Perform Bach's Christmas Oratorio

On Saturday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Woolsey Hall, Yale Schola Cantorum, conducted by David Hill, will perform Weihnachts Oratorium BWV 248 (or the Christmas Oratorio) by Johann Sebastian Bach. View full program.  The concert wil also be live streamed. View live stream here.

Professor David Hill has a long and distinguished career as one of the leading conductors in Europe. His positions have included being chief conductor of the BBC Singers and musical director of the Bach Choir. He is currently adjunct professor of Choral Conducting at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and principal conductor of Yale Schola Cantorum. Read more.

A pre-concert lecture, “Sacred Love Songs and Royal Jubilation: Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and its History” will be offered by Professor Markus Rathey at 6:30 pm in Sheffield-Sterling-Strathcona Hall, room 114. This building is located diagonally across the street from Woolsey Hall. Staff will be present to guide you. Rathey is the Robert S. Tangeman Professor in the Practice of Music History at Yale. The talk is in-person only and will not be live streamed.
