ISM alum appointed director of music and canon-elect at Washington National Cathedral
Congratulations to ISM alumnus, Dr. Jared Johnson, who has been appointed director of music and canon-elect at Washington National Cathedral, beginning summer 2026.
Dr. Johnson graduated from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and Yale School of Music with multiple degrees in organ—the Master of Music (2001), Master of Musical Arts (2003), and Doctor of Musical Arts (2008). During his time in New Haven, he also served as organ scholar at Trinity Church on the Green. He is currently the canon director of music at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. In his new role in Washington D.C., Dr. Johnson will oversee the cathedral’s music program, including direction of the choir, organ performances, and liturgical and concert offerings.
