DIRECTOR OF MUSIC JOB DESCRIPTION
Christ Episcopal Church, New Bern NC

Christ Episcopal Church located in historic New Bern NC is seeking a
full-time Director of Music. Duties include planning, rehearsing and
performing the music for two Sunday services as well as Weddings and
Funerals. In addition, the choir presents four Evensong Services a year, a
candlelight service of Advent Lessons and Carols and a Good Friday
Passiontide service. Choral concerts with orchestra have included Rutter’s
Requiem and Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna. A noon Lenten Music Series has also
been offered. Choirs consist of a 20+ adult choir and youth choirs. Available
instruments are a two manual Zimmer, two pianos, a three-octave hand bell
set, a full carillon, and Orff instruments. Requirements are a Master of
Music with a minimum of five year’s experience, strong knowledge and love
of Anglican liturgy, and familiarity with contemporary Christian music.
Experience with reinvigorating a youth choir program is desirable.
Compensation package contains full benefits; salary starts at $58,000. The
