Director of Music (PT) | Bethlehem Lutheran Church, East Hampton CT

The position would require playing for one worship service every Sunday and
other seasonal services of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, such as Christmas Eve, Christmas Day
(if on Sunday), Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday; also
Wednesdays in Advent and Lent.

Music Director will work with the Pastor and worship committee to choose
hymns. Also to provide music for all weddings and funerals held at the church
with consultation of families involved.

Skills & Qualifications:
1) Knowledge of the instrument and keyboard ability sufficient to play hymns,
liturgy, and anthem accompaniments at sight.

2) Knowledge of basic music theory, including simple transpositions or
harmonizing a melody.

3) Ability to sing and play with accurate pitch and rhythm.

4) Knowledge of appropriate church music (classical, contemporary, folk, jazz
& gospel) and the role of music in Lutheran Liturgy, matching appropriate
music with the themes of the Church Year.

5) Ability to work well with others, inspiring an atmosphere of growth and
creativity. Experience as a “team player” and ability to relate to others
with good interpersonal skills.

6) Experience with choral conducting.
