Job Description: “Irvington Presbyterian Church (Irvington-on-Hudson, NY)
seeks a quarter-time Director of Youth and Children’s Choirs.
Responsibilities include conducting weekly rehearsals for both choirs (Youth
Choir and Children’s Choir) on Sundays running September to June,
conducting performances in services (approximately once per month), assisting
the youth choirs with outreach performances approximately four times per year
(such as Christmas caroling at local hospitals), and leading music in
Children’s Chapel (once per month, usually the first Sunday of the month).
Desired qualifications include previous experience with vocal pedagogy and
children’s choirs, experience with and appreciation for traditional choral
repertoire, and the readiness to collaborate with the Director of Music and
Chancel Choir (adult choir). Piano accompanying skills and experience with
styles such as Gospel music and various world music traditions are a plus.
Time on site will ordinarily be on Sundays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Compensation will be $15,000-$20,000 annually commensurate with
