Knock Intern in Sacred Music (Rye, New York)
CALL FOR APPLICANTS THE PETER B. KNOCK INTERNSHIP IN SACRED MUSIC AT RYE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
$15,000, plus up to $3,000 for travel reimbursement, for the 2024-2025 Academic Year (October-December 2024; February-May 2025)
Eligibility: An applicant should be an organist who meets one of the following criteria:
- Is already enrolled in or accepted into an accredited school, college, or university; or
- Will be a “gap year” student (between degrees) looking to benefit from practical education enrichment.
- In addition, an applicant should reside within a reasonable traveling distance of Rye, New York, and an applicant’s course of study must include or have included disciplines related to the performance of sacred music. Overview of Internship Goals and Time
Commitment: The goal of the internship is to provide a hands-on educational experience that includes regular playing and conducting opportunities within the context of worship and rehearsal. Rye Presbyterian Church is graced with a large membership, strong worship attendance, a commitment to excellence in sacred music offered by volunteer and professional musicians, and world-class organs (Casavant Frères opp. 3506 [1981; IV/68] and 3942 [2020; II/9]).
The time commitment averages 8-10 hours per week, for approximately 28 weeks. Participation on Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, and Easter is required.

Notification: Finalists will be asked to meet (in-person or online) with representatives from the board of trustees of the Peter B. Knock Memorial Music Fund, including the church’s Director of Music and Organist and one of the church’s Co-Pastors.
The Intern will be named by June 9, 2024
