Conducting students take masterclass with conductor of The Crossing

October 4, 2023

During the week of September 18, the choral program at the Institute of Sacred Music and Yale School of Music hosted The Crossing, the Grammy-winning professional choir the New York Times has called “America’s Most Astonishing Choir.” The ensemble sang a concert in Yale’s Battell Chapel featuring new works by Wang Lu, Tania León, and Yale Glee Club alumna, Ayanna Woods. ISM’s choral conducting majors worked closely with the singers and their conductor Donald Nally in seminars and masterclasses throughout the week.

The Crossing is a professional chamber choir conducted by Donald Nally and dedicated to new music. It is committed to working with creative teams to make and record new, substantial works for choir that explore and expand ways of writing for choir, singing in choir, and listening to music for choir.
