Organist | First Presbyterian Church, Sarasota, FL

First Presbyterian Church PCUSA of Sarasota, Florida seeks an excellent,
energetic, and creative part time organist. Ours is a downtown congregation
with a tradition of fine music, located in a beautiful, coastal, arts-loving
city. The new organist will be part of a collegial team whose mission is to
support our diverse and welcoming faith community and to enrich our city
through spiritually based cultural outreach. We encourage persons of skill

Vital Information
•    Includes teaching privileges, which we encourage as enrichment to our
congregation and community.

•    Recitals are encouraged but not mandatory.

•    The organ is presently undergoing a $400,000 restoration and enhancement
by Guzowski and Steppe of Fort Lauderdale to become a 65-rank equivalent
instrument. It is a hybrid organ of approximately 30 pipe ranks and 35 Walker
electronic ranks. Upon completion the new organ will be a stunning instrument
with great versatility and integrity.

•    The church owns a seven-foot Boston grand piano and a custom two-rank
harpsichord.

•    The sanctuary is a beautiful 1940’s Spanish Mission structure with
pleasing acoustics. The 500-seat facility is presently undergoing a major
restoration as a component of a $4M Capital Campaign.

•    Responsible for organ/piano at two weekly Traditional Services (8:15 am
and 11:00 am), two to three rehearsals with choirs and soloists, and regular
meetings with Director and other staff. Additional seasonal services and
concerts up to six per year.

•    This is a part-time, 16-20 hr/wk salaried position with a starting
position as set by the Personnel Committee of $20,000.The position does
include four weeks’ vacation pay.

•    Weddings and funerals are remunerated at competitive rates in addition to
salary.
