Job Description:
Trinity Episcopal Church in Roslyn, NY seeks a quarter-time Choir Director
and Organist to coordinate the musical aspect of our liturgical and spiritual
life and be a part of our journey of faith.  Music supports and surrounds our
life at Trinity. Our sanctuary is the work of Stanford White enriched by
Tiffany windows. It is on the National and NY State Registers of Historic
Places and offers an inspiring worship space with a fully restored 22-rank,
two-manual Hinners tracker organ as well as a Steinway piano. We have an
exceptional adult choir comprised of professional and amateur musicians.
Current responsibilities include:
•       One Sunday service at 10 am.
•       Adult choir that rehearses one weekday evening for an hour-and-a-half and
for one hour prior to the Sunday service from September through June.
•       Small children’s choir in need of development and expansion.
•       Reports directly to the rector.
•       Playing for weddings and/or funerals as needed for additional
compensation.

-       Understands the spirit and role of music in a sacramental and liturgical
tradition and will bring creativity and excellence to our way of worshipping
God.
-       Is an innovator and dreamer about “the what” and “the how” of music
in a parish setting, is passionate about trying new things, and has a deep
understanding of liturgy, Christian formation and different prayer forms,
including The Book of Common Prayer.
-       Enjoys and works well with all ages and different levels of musical
ability.
-        Is active in the world of music beyond the parish, has ability to book,
plan and oversee arts programming to build community.
-       Is a skilled communicator who can be flexible as to schedule and
understands social media.
