Event description: 

Professor Markus Rathey, the Robert S. Tangeman Professor in the Practice of Music History at Yale will offer a pre-concert lecture, “Sacred Love Songs and Royal Jubilation: Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and its History” prior to Yale Schola Cantorum’s performance of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, conducted by David Hill.

The talk will take place at 6:30 pm in Sheffield-Sterling-Strathcona Hall, room 114. The hall is located at 1 Prospect Street, New Haven, diagonally opposite (and just a minute’s walk from) Woolsey Hall. Staff will be present to guide you. The concert will follow in Woolsey Hall at 7:30 pm. Both events are free and open to the public. The concert will be live streamed but the talk is in-person only.
