Event description:

“Testimony Songs and Devotion” will be a sound-art event bringing together musicians, singers, foodies, and audience members to intentionally think about the role of the senses in Black religious practice and sacred traditions. The show will feature Gospel songs that will be sung in a common call-and-response, antiphonal modality for audience engagement. Whether audience members are familiar with the songs or not, singing will be facilitated by a song leader, and the singing will be easy for everyone to pick up and join. The concert will be concluded with a brief question and answer session, and a dinner reception will follow.

This concert caps off the day-long symposium “Antiphony, Otherwise.” Visit the symposium event page for complete information.

Musicians will include:

Abdul Hamid Robinson-Royal (Hammond B-3 Organ)
Kellie Turner (Hammond B-3 Organ)
Naomi Washington-Leapheart (Lead Singer)
Nick Peterson (Lead Singer)
Marcus Johnson (Drummer)
