Job Description: 

The Bach Vespers Artistic Director is responsible for the vision, performance, financial oversight, development, and community outreach of Holy Trinity’s renowned Bach Vespers ministry.

Position Requirements:

  • ●  Friendly, people-oriented attitude, and an ability to collaborate easily with the Pastor, Bach Vespers General Manager, additional staff, congregational leadership, musicians, and partner organizations

  • ●  Exceptional choral conducting skills, with a passion for Baroque performance practice

  • ●  Keen interest in serving as a leader, which includes serving as a public ambassador, executing smart

    budgeting and development strategies, and strengthening relationships with musicians and organizations

  • ●  Top-notch organizational and time management skills, with an acute attention to detail

  • ●  Fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Drive, Mailchimp, Zoom, and various social

    media products; ability to learn and use the church database as well as any new software required

  • ●  Understanding of the necessity to maintain and protect confidential information

  • ●  Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer; must be able to lift up to 20 pounds

    Primary responsibilities:

  • ●  Successfully conducting all Bach Vespers rehearsals and services

  • ●  Collaborating with the Pastor and staff to develop a 10-weekend Bach Vespers season

  • ●  Drawing up a model contract, then recruiting an exceptional roster of musicians for each Bach Vespers,

    providing detailed information to the Associate Director of Operations for contracting

  • ●  Serving as a public ambassador for Bach Vespers, engaging members, participants, and donors, and

    forming new relationships among musicians, schools, and complementary organizations

  • ●  Executing smart budgeting and financial development strategies with the help of the Generosity

    Committee at Holy Trinity to ensure the sustainability of the ministry

  • ●  Performing various administrative tasks, including responding to emails, reviewing bulletins for

    accuracy, attending relevant staff meetings, overseeing the payment of musicians, submitting invoices for

    payment, and contributing to Holy Trinity’s newsletter and social media accounts on a regular basis

  • ●  Participati1ng in receptions and other parish community-building events on a regular basis

  • ●  Other duties as assigned

    Hours: The Artistic Director is a half-time position. The Bach Vespers schedule is typically Saturdays 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Sundays 3 - 7:00 p.m. for an average of 10 weekends per year, October through April; all remaining hours are flexible. While the position averages a given number hours per week, some require more, others less.

    Compensation: The Artistic Director is a salaried, W-2 position with a total compensation of $30,000. The position can be structured annually ($1,150 biweekly, 20 hours per week, 26 pay periods) or seasonally ($1,875 biweekly, 32 hours per week, 16 pay periods, September 1 through April 30). While benefits are not ordinarily included, we are willing to negotiate benefits into the overall reward package if desired.
