Bass Section Leader St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stamford, CT is looking for a bass section leader starting March 31, Easter Sunday.

  • $150/week—1 Sunday call; no midweek rehearsal. $175 if you are commuting from NYC or New Haven.

  • St. John’s is easily accessible via Metro North express, Stamford as the first stop- <1 hour from GCT.

  • Pay is double on Easter morning and Christmas Eve. Additional dates are Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil.

The choir consists of volunteers who read well and a paid quartet. It’s a supportive and flexible environment. The music program focusses heavily on new music in the Anglican tradition and music by female and other underrepresented composers.

Music for the term is made available immediately via Google Drive. It’s a straightforward gig for a good reader and leader.

The monthly Evensong means that there is no morning call once a month, only a mid-afternoon call. This is to free up a Sunday morning to support the bass’s additional gigs outside of St. John’s.
