Director of Music and/or Interim Music Director (Old Saybrook, CT)

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, is beginning a search for its director of music or interim director of music position.   The position will include leading music (congregation and choir) and providing music (piano and organ) for the two Sunday Eucharists, midweek Lenten services, festivals, weddings, and funerals.

Pastor Wilbert "Wilk" Miller began his interim ministry at St. Paul on August 23, 2021.  It is his hope, with the Music and Worship Committee and Director of Music, to assess past worship practices and plan how best to proceed.

The candidate for this position must be open to a variety of musical styles while working within the traditional shape of the liturgy.   Also, a desire to be creative within the traditional shape of the liturgy is desirous.

We understand that candidates who are currently students at Yale will likely have other obligations during the academic year so we would hope to negotiate what is best for all involved and to be flexible when necessary and possible. 

The salary is $25,000+ (negotiable); weddings and funerals will be remunerated at $200 per service (fee is negotiable).
