First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor seeks a Director of Music Ministries. This full-time position offers an opportunity to join a worship team that aims to sustain the church’s cherished and long-standing excellence in the tradition of sacred music supported by its Schoenstein organ, and at the same time looks forward to embracing more diverse traditions, new media, and broader definitions of the sacred as the congregation moves toward a wider range in its forms of worship.

Working in concert with a staff of 18 to serve a congregation of approximately 1600, the Director of Music Ministries will provide musical leadership and spiritual support to choir members, congregation, and the community through worship services, as well as weddings, funerals, fellowship events, concerts, rehearsals, retreats, classes, and special performances. Current church musical groups include three choirs, handbells, an orchestra, and a recorder ensemble. Musicians from several nearby universities contribute to, and offer potential for, additional configurations.

Applicants should have an advanced degree in music, at least ten years in positions of music leadership, and experience as director of music at a large church.
