Effective November 29, 2018, Highland Presbyterian Church PC(USA), Winston-Salem, NC seeks candidates for the permanent full-time position of Director of Music/Organist. The successful candidate will be a person of faith, eager to teach and nurture a growing congregation that loves music. He/She will succeed our outgoing DoM of 6 years, assuming the role of choir director, organist, and creative leader of our music ministry. He/She will join an energetic and collegial staff of three ordained ministers and a Director of Christian Education. At Highland, the Director of Music/Organist plans programming for, conducts, and accompanies our adult, youth, and children’s choirs, and facilitates additional musical offerings including handbells, chimes, soloists, instrumentalists, chamber groups, and concerts involving the wider Winston Salem area music community.. We celebrate a classically-styled Presbyterian worship service steeped in the Protestant Reformed tradition. Our music reflects the rich heritage of sacred choral and pipe organ music that has evolved in the church across the ages. The position requires (i) a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music with a concentration in Organ or Conducting and (ii) a clearly demonstrated proficiency in choral conducting, organ and piano accompaniment.

The successful candidate will:
Lead our active and talented congregation to continue the innovative creation of music that is integral to our communal faith journey.
Have a minimum of five years of experience conducting and performing keyboards in a traditional Protestant worship environment similar to our own.
Be comfortable utilizing the broad choral and instrumental repertoire of the Church from across the ages and around the world.
Have a strong affinity for classical instrumental music.
Salary and benefits (including health, retirement, and continuing education) are competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range, inclusive of benefits, is $60,000 to $80,000. We will pay for relocation.
