Job Description:
Wesley United Methodist Church at Frederica, St. Simons Island, GA, is
seeking a full-time or part-time Organist/Music Associate for a flexibly
structured position to begin by Fall 2017. Duties, scope of responsibility,
and position size are negotiable and dependent on the skills and interests of
the candidate. As a minimum, the successful candidate would serve as the
principal keyboardist and accompanist at Wesley. Additional opportunities
include “music associate” level administration and directorial duties.

A full-time position would also include a non-music work area, such as
facilities management, communications, or membership work areas. Salary is
negotiable, but expected to fall in the range of $25,000-$50,000, depending
on duties.

This beautiful church, located on St. Simons Island near Fort Frederica
National Monument, has a membership of 1100+ with average attendance of

There are two traditional services and one contemporary service each Sunday.
Wesley has a strong, vibrant music program, including the Chancel Choir,
chamber ensembles, 2 children’s choirs, 5-octave handbell choir and
ensemble, and many other opportunities. Additionally, Wesley hosts and
provides music leadership for the Golden Isles Community Chorus and Golden
Isles Community Messiah Chorus, as well as producing an active concert
series.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and gifted organist, pianist,
collaborative musician, and skilled service player. Interest in the
contemporary service is not necessary, but is considered a plus. Candidate
reviews will begin on a rolling basis and continue until a candidate has been
selected. Ideal employment start date is Fall 2017. Salary is negotiable and
dependent on qualifications, duties, skills, and status of the position, plus
approximately $4,500+ for weddings, annually.
