Job Description: 

This is a year-round, part time, position with responsibilities for coordinating the total music program at Grace Episcopal Church in a manner that enhances the spirit of worship and assists the congregation in praising and serving God. This includes providing organ music on Sundays and special services. We are especially proud of our organ, a Hutchings two-manual tracker organ.

Requirements

  • Must reflect the ethics, values and standards of Grace Episcopal Church.
  • Have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Music with study in choral conducting
  • Formal training in piano and organ
  • Have the ability to effectively direct a choir and musicians of all ages
  • Have a strong knowledge of sacred music literature and traditions
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Parish, Rector and Vestry
  • Have proficient musical skills to perform, lead, direct and teach singers and instrumentalists 
  • Ability to recruit singers/musicians within the church
  • Provide music at weddings and funerals as needed
  • Responsible for music and supplies, expenditures within the music budget
  • Work with the Rector and administrative staff for planning/coordination

Requirements

  • 10 hours per week
  • 10am Sunday Service with choir. Preludes and Postludes on organ/piano
  • Special occasion services, sometimes up to 2 on Holy Days
  • Choir rehearsal - weekly for 1.5 hrs and at 9:00am on Sundays when the choir is singing
  • Choir rehearsal for children on Sundays prior to Family Service
  • Will work with Children's Ministry to encourage the youth to become involved with the church services and perform at scheduled Family Service
