Job Description:

This position aims to provide promising young organists an opportunity to learn and develop practical skills in a large, supportive Episcopal Church. Music at Heavenly Rest includes an adult choir of 35 singers, a growing chorister program for children in K-12th grade, handbells, seasonal concerts, and commitment to neighborhood outreach through music. The 138-rank, 5 manual Austin Organ in the main nave and 14-rank 2 manual Austin Organ in the Chapel of the Beloved Disciple are both available for practice and use. Director of Music Janet Yieh will work closely with the Organ Scholar on hymn playing, accompaniment and choir training. The ideal candidate possesses strong playing skills, a healthy work ethic, and a commitment to ministry. Experience working within the Episcopal Church is preferred but not required. Safe-Church training will be provided. We hope this program will benefit Heavenly Rest, but also positively impact the wider sacred music community and our partner organizations and institutions around New York City.
