Job Description: 

Emmanuel Episcopal Church is seeking candidates for the position of Organist/Director of Music to guide its liturgical music ministry, parish-based music school, and special musical events of the parish. This position offers an opportunity for full-time ministry for the individual who is equipped to assume the wide variety of responsibilities of a parish music program and a parish-based music school.

Qualified candidates will be proficient in organ and piano performance, be able to provide musical accompaniment to liturgical worship, accompany choral performance, work in cooperation with the Rector and Choirmaster in selecting music for worship, and be responsible for administration and program development of the parish-based music school.

Emmanuel has a 36 rank pipe organ, recently revised and expanded by Garland Pipe Organs of Ft. Worth, Texas. There is a Kawai grand piano in the church, a Baldwin grand in the choir room, and a Steinway grand in the Great Room. The parish-based music school currently has five teachers and 84 students.

San Angelo is a city of just over 100,000 located in West Central Texas, 90 miles south of Abilene and 180 northwest of San Antonio. The city is home to Goodfellow Air Force Base and Angelo State University. San Angelo State Park provides a place to enjoy nature, as does the Concho River that winds through town and is lined by a pleasant river walk. A lively fine arts community includes the San Angelo Symphony, San Angelo Chorale, San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, San Angelo Civic Theatre, and San Angelo Civic Ballet, to name a few of our cultural opportunities.
