Job Description:

Regina Pacis Academy is seeking to hire a part-time sacred music teacher for our upcoming 2019/2020 school year.  Regina Pacis Academy is an independent K-8 Catholic classical school in Norwalk, Connecticut, on the campus of St. Mary's Parish.

Regina Pacis is one of a growing number of Catholic classical schools in the country, that stands on the two pillars of a classical curriculum taught in an authentically Catholic educational setting.  Our teachers and staff are all practicing Catholics, faithful to the Church’s teachings, who are committed to pursuing our goal of academic excellence for all our students in an unabashedly Catholic environment.

We are hiring a part-time music teacher who would provide instruction one day per week, for students in Grades K-8.  Each class period would be two classes grouped together (teaching a total of 4-5 classes over the 2 days).  In addition, this teacher would lead a small schola at our weekly Mass (12:10pm Mass at St. Mary's) and 4-5 special Masses we have throughout the year (dates known in advance).  Lastly, this teacher would prepare musical selections for our whole-school drama performance during Advent.

Ideally, this teacher would complement our classical curriculum with much-needed formation in music, including history and appreciation, but who would also be skilled in teaching the basics and mechanics of chant.  Perhaps, since it is a part-time position, a music student or a musician with a flexible schedule, would be appropriate.

It is a necessity that this individual must be a skilled teacher in managing a classroom with students of varying ages and abilities, but also a talented musician.
