Staff Singers: Alto and Soprano (New Canaan, Connecticut)

Seeking a Soprano and Alto Staff Singers to be part of an active choir made up of a professional octet and dedicated volunteers at a large, vital and lively church: St. Aloysius Church, New Canaan, CT. We are intentionally seeking a larger voice, able to sing straight tone with excellent intonation and sight-reading skills. We’re looking for a very specific vocal quality to blend with our current singers and ensemble, with the capability to sing solo repertoire as well as wonderfully blend with the ensemble. The choir sings a wide range of repertoire that includes classical anthems to Renaissance motets and contemporary works. Thursday rehearsals during the season from September-mid June are held 7:15-9:15 PM, Sunday Morning Mass is at 11:30 (1 hour) with a 30 min. warm-up prior; occasional additional Masses and Services; Prayer services, Confirmations, First Communions and Concerts with Chamber Orchestra; as well as occasional opportunities to sing for Weddings, Funerals and Memorial Masses. Regular call fee is $125, Concerts, Midnight Mass, Easter Vigil, etc. are $250. Typically there are 10-11 calls during Holy Week and 7-9 calls on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. Best for those with car transportation (the Church is located though across the street from the New Canaan Metro North Station).
