Staff Singers (New Haven, CT)

Christ Church Parish, New Haven, seeks a professional alto and tenor for the 2020/21 choir season. The choirs at Christ Church sing for Mass at 11 a.m. and Compline at 9 p.m. every Sunday of the academic year. Occasionally, services are sung mid-week in commemoration of a feast or fast including for Christmas Eve and during Holy Week. Successful candidates will demonstrate proficient sight-reading abilities and a developed singing technique fit for solo and choral performance.

Christ Church is offering to employ a quartet (SATB) who will remain on call for Sunday morning services throughout the season beginning in September and ending in May. The number of singers allowed to participate in any given service will be decided by the current public health guidelines. All members of the quartet will be paid one fee of $55 per week regardless of whether or not they are allowed to perform. When Mass and Compline are both sung, an additional fee of $40 will be paid for singing Compline.

Each call includes a rehearsal preceding the service of approximately one hour in length. The CoVID-19 pandemic will require a certain degree of flexibility and adaptation from all parties, and singers should expect to undertake a high degree of self-preparation guided by the Choirmaster.
