Job Description:
First Congregational Church of Bethel United Church of Christ, Bethel, CT,
seeks a dynamic Music Director to play both our high-quality Allen electronic
organ and piano for services of worship, to direct the Sanctuary Choir and
Handbell Choir, and to form and direct a Children’s Choir. We have one
Sunday morning service each week and occasional services during the year
(Christmas and Holy Week).

Among her/his responsibilities is to work in close collaboration with the
Senior Pastor to ensure that the music presented as part of Sunday morning
worship contributes to and enhances the depth and meaning of the spiritual
experience.

This is a part-time position which will average ten (10) hours per week, with
four (4) weeks paid vacation and two (2) personal/sick Sundays.

Responsibilities include rehearsing with the Sanctuary Choir (and Handbell
Choir, as needed), and special services through the year. Upon the formation
of a Children’s Choir, extra rehearsals would be necessary for the Sundays
that the children sing. Responsibilities also include working with individual
musicians during the summer months and accompanying them, along with
encouraging the musical gifts of children and youth in the congregation.

Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education.
